Spine Clinic
The New Malden Diagnostic Centre provides a unique assessment clinic for persisting spinal (back and neck) pain. This is a joint clinic in which patients see both a consultant neurosurgeon and a specialist pain physiotherapist, both of whom are experts in spinal care.
The Spine Clinic features:
- An assessment of your condition with both a consultant neurosurgeon and specialist pain physiotherapist;
- An MRI scan of the problem area;
- A consultation following the MRI to discuss the results;
- A treatment plan and recommendations for self-care
Our multi-disciplinary team works to address your pain, influences upon the pain and other issues with a long-term view of symptom relief, increased activity levels and improved quality of life.
The treatment programme typically includes education about pain and spinal health to promote effective self-care, provide treatment of the affected tissues to ease symptoms and mobilise the area and to develop specific exercises to restore normal movement and control of movement. General exercise advice, activity management as well as relaxation and coping skills are also provided. This comprehensive programme is build around your specific needs and goals.
The Spinal Assessment Clinic is available at a cost of £750. You are advised to contact your medical insurer in advance of your visit to determine whether they will fund your treatment.
