Biography

Dr Kate Panter studied medicine at Cambridge University, graduating in 1984. From there she went to St Thomas's Hospital Medical School, University of London, qualifying as a doctor in 1987. After house jobs she trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in and around London, working at St Thomas's Hospital, Queen Charlotte's Hospital, the Elizabeth Garret Anderson Hospital and UCH.  In 1991 she was appointed as a Registrar at St Thomas’s Hospital. In 1994 she was awarded membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

 

From 1993 to 1996 she worked in Canada, where she was a Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto, working at Mount Sinai Hospital and Women's College Hospital. She published research into Preterm Labour for which she was awarded a Doctorate (MD) from the University of London in 2000.

On returning to the UK, she worked as a Senior Registrar in the South West Thames region attached to St Helier and the Royal Surrey County Hospitals whilst having an honorary contract at Kings College Hospital, London, to train in ultrasound scanning with Professor Kypros Nicolaides.
She was appointed as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Kingston Hospital in 2001.

In 2008 she was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

In 2009 she resigned from her NHS post and is now practising solely in the private sector.
